Not so simple. What we eat breaks down to glucose. You cannot survive without it. What matters is inflammation. Any diet that reduces inflammation is one I prefer. For example, drink orange juice, and your insulin-like growth factor-1 rises, causing inflammation.

On the other hand, eat an orange, and you get no sudden rush of glucose and IGF-1 spikes. It's too reductionist to say sugar is bad. Go for the slow sugar approach. Heart attack diets work well (Mediterranean, etc).
