Nicely put, Sky. I had the cited article open in a separate tab as I wrote. There is indeed a price to be paid with the use of medicines to push BP down; as you have seen in my comments, I am a big advocate of using lifestyle to nudge our BPs down. (With a nod to the folks who genuinely need meds). Cardiovascular events can be devastating (anecdotally, my dad died of a heart attaack at 85), but so can medicine-induced toxicity. I wish all of the randomized studies had quality adjusted life years gained measures.
