Masturbation and the Health Benefits Nobody Told You About

CAN MASTURBATION IMPROVE your immune system? Today we explore the relationship between this solo sex act and immune system function. We will also look at possible mechanisms by which masturbation might influence our immune system functioning.

Masturbation is common. When queried about frequency in the prior year, about half of American males report masturbation at least twice weekly. This national survey showed that among females, 46 percent reported masturbation a few times per year, while 23 percent reported twice per week.

The available research points to the benefits of masturbation that extend beyond immediate pleasure. For example, one may experience stress relief, better sleep, mood elevation, menstrual cramp relief, the release of sexual tension, better sex, and more.

Moreover, some studies point to a reduction in prostate cancer. A 2016 Harvard Medical School study showed prostate cancer risk dropped by a fifth for men who ejaculated at least 21 times monthly.
