For those who don't know, full breast automated ultrasound is an optional test for women with dense breast tissue who would like to supplement their routine mammography screenings. Can increase detection rates, but no data that it (or any supplemental imaging) improves survival. Agree that it represents one more tool in the toolbox. I believe MRI has better sensitivity and look forward to more fast MRI (granted with it accompanying false positives). Looking forward to an update from the US Preventative Task Force for supplemental screening for those with dense breasts. Given the low risks associated with breast automated ultrasound, to me it seems a reasonable additional approach for those with dense breasts. Being new, however, we need more clinical data and it is not widely available. Thank you for the question.
