Concerning prostate cancer screening, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force does not recommend DRE as a screening test because of a lack of evidence on the benefits. I agree; digital rectal examination (DRE) inadequately identifies risk for prostate cancer on a population level, according to a meta-analysis (https://www.annfammed.org/content/16/2/149) that compared DRE indications of elevated risk with biopsy outcomes.
