Certainly, older types of OCs (with higher doses of hormones, admittedly) increased breast cancer by about 1 percent, while dropping ovarian cancer risk and endometrial cancer risk by about half as I recall. So if I had a strong family history (or a known BRCA, CHEK2, or other deleterious mutation), I would be especially careful. For others, I think it can be a good BC choice. For the modern OC, I suspect the breast CA risk is relatively quite low (some would argue non-existent). The very small increased risk appears to go away within about 5 years of stopping.
